Our Story – The Pursuit of Perfection
Over 10 years ago, in Dunedin, a city on New Zealand's South Island, a coffee enthusiast began experimenting in search of the "perfect cup of coffee."
His name is Chris Hilder .
For Chris, coffee is not just a drink, but an important ritual that starts the day. However, no matter what beans he chose, he could never find a roast that he thought was "the one!"
So, in order to create the "perfect roast" with his own hands, Chris started developing software that would allow for real-time visualization, control, and storage of temperature, time, and airflow, all using his own experience. This was the beginning of the birth of Kaffelogic.
Meeting entrepreneurs
Turning an idea into reality isn't easy, so Chris met like-minded people in a community of entrepreneurs called Start-up Dunedin .
This encounter led to the official founding of Kaffelogic in 2017, with the support of two "angel advisors": David Cohen and Rachel Elder .
The following year, a crowdfunding campaign called "PledgeMe" raised 100 backers, and these "first 100" became the foundation of the Kaffelogic community that continues to this day.
A dream dreamed together with friends
John Robson, who has been active in the coffee industry for many years, resonated with this challenge.
He supports the brand from a business perspective and forms a team with Chris.
Working with engineers and designers, we have created the Kaffelogic Nano, a compact roaster that is precise on the inside and beautifully refined on the outside.
With its beautiful form and ease of use that anyone can use, the Nano has brought a breath of fresh air to the coffee industry.
From 100 people to the world
The trust of our first 100 users has now led to thousands of Kaffelogic fans around the world, from home kitchens to cafes, roasteries, and professional settings.
They all continue to search for the perfect cup of coffee together with Kaffelogic.
In 2021 we opened our new factory at 53 Castle Street, Dunedin.
Many of the members are young engineers who graduated from the University of Otago.
In New Zealand, we continue to carefully craft each Kaffelogic unit, cherishing the fusion of handcrafted craftsmanship and technology.

Over 65% of Kaffelogic's components are sourced within New Zealand .
We have partnered with local companies such as Farra Engineering, Kamahi Electronics and NZ Cartons to develop our products together.
Another thing we value is sustainability .
The Nano is designed as a "Right of Repair" appliance and is shipped in plastic-free packaging. It is not a disposable appliance, but rather a device that can be used for a long time.

To date , over 8,000 Kaffelogic Nanos have been produced and delivered to coffee lovers in 21 countries .
